Alpen and hiking paradise

The Casies Valley - Holidays at the origin

In no other region of South Tyrol, is there such a wide selection of beautiful alpine huts. During the annual mountain hut festival, the famous and popular huts of the Casies Valley are truly revitalized. The holiday shelters in the Casies Tal-Welsberg-Taisten region are very important both in summer and winter. A visit to a hut is part of almost all leisure activities whether you prefer sledging, hiking, snowshoeing or mountain biking. The many traditional dishes are simply too tempting to resist: bacon dumplings on cabbage salad, cheese dumplings, pancakes, apple strudel. Everything is genuine, natural, healthy and traditional. For all guests who love authenticity and originality, the Casies Valley has really so much beauty!

We recommend hiking in the early summer on the huge alpine meadows when there’s a colorful sea of flowers and also in mid summer to see how this cocktail of colors changes. But the Casies Valley is not an idyll staged. The people who have lived here for many generations are contemporaries in the best sense of the word.

One last tip: The green Valley is beautiful even covered with snow. Cross-country skiers, snowshoeing and ski hikers appreciate the Valley as a winter hiking paradise. Families, and those who no longer trust skiing, will find here a true sleigh safari with many well-prepared forest trails and open shelters. In the tourist confluence of the ski circuit Dolomiti - Superski, easily accessible, on the Plan de Corones or on the Casco, you can find some tracks covered with snow that may seem perhaps even more primitive.
